Crowns & Bridgework
Crowns are caps placed over damaged teeth to restore strength and appearance; bridges are custom appliances that replace a section of missing teeth.

About this treatment
A crown is a synthetic cap — usually porcelain — placed over the top of a tooth to restore its function and appearance. Crowns are commonly used after a root canal, when decay has removed large portions of a tooth, to protect a cracked tooth, or to cover an implant. A tooth is gently reduced in size to accommodate the crown, an impression is taken, and the custom-made crown is cemented into place.
Bridges are natural-looking appliances that replace a section of missing teeth. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and restore the natural contour of the teeth and the proper bite relationship between upper and lower arches. Often called fixed partial dentures, they are bonded to existing teeth or implants and can be made in porcelain, gold alloys, or a combination of materials.
What to expect
Every visit is built around your comfort. Here's the typical journey:
- 1
Tooth preparation
The tooth is reduced in size so the crown or bridge fits naturally over it.
- 2
Impression
A precise impression is taken to create the custom-designed restoration.
- 3
Temporary fitted
A temporary crown or bridge protects the tooth while the final one is fabricated.
- 4
Permanent cementation
The finished crown or bridge is cemented in place and polished to blend with your bite.
