Tooth Extractions
When restorations like fillings, crowns, or root canals are no longer enough to save a tooth, extraction protects the rest of your smile — and today's procedure is far more comfortable than ever.

About this treatment
Tooth extractions today are far less painful than in the past, thanks to modern anaesthetics and sedatives. Many patients experience little or no discomfort and only minor bleeding. Before the tooth is removed the area is fully numbed with a topical and/or injectable anaesthetic, and an antibiotic may be prescribed when needed to prevent infection.
Wisdom teeth are a common reason for extraction. As the third and final set of molars, they often erupt too close to existing teeth — causing crowding, improper bites, swelling, or infection. Impacted wisdom teeth can be very painful, and many people have them removed to avoid future problems. After any extraction, avoid smoking, vigorous rinsing, and drinking through straws while the site heals, and apply cold compresses to reduce swelling.
What to expect
Every visit is built around your comfort. Here's the typical journey:
- 1
Assessment
X-rays confirm the position and condition of the tooth or wisdom tooth.
- 2
Comfortable numbing
Local anaesthetic — and sedation when appropriate — keeps the area fully numb.
- 3
Careful removal
The tooth is gently extracted with minimal disturbance to the surrounding bone.
- 4
Aftercare & replacement plan
Clear recovery instructions are provided along with replacement options to protect your bite.
Is it right for you?
Tooth Extractions may be a great fit if any of these apply:
- Teeth too damaged, decayed, or fractured to repair
- Painful, impacted, or poorly positioned wisdom teeth
- Severe crowding before orthodontic treatment
- Advanced gum disease causing tooth mobility
